NMP is a slightly ammonia-scented liquid, mixed with water in any proportion, almost completely mixed with all solvents, boiling point 204 C, flash point 95 C.
Purpose:
NMP is a polar nonproton transfer solvent. It has low toxicity, high boiling point and excellent solubility. Strong selectivity and good stability. It is widely used in aromatics extraction, acetylene, olefin and diene purification, as well as in polymer solvents and polymerization media, such as engineering plastics and aramid fibers. It can also be used in pesticides, medicine and detergents. The substance can dissolve with water, and the exothermic heat you find is just the heat of dissolution released by the substance when it dissolves into the water, similar to the amount of heat released when concentrated sulfuric acid is added to the water. Adherent heat of dissolution: refers to the thermal effect of a certain mass of solutes dissolved in solvents at a certain temperature and pressure (usually at 298K and 100kPa).
